Caduceus Primer Paso 2018 (750 ml)

This year’s Primer Paso is a rich blend of 85% Syrah, 10% Durif, and 5% Malvasia. This vintage of Primer Paso consists of fruit from the Eliphante Block, located in Yavapai Co., AZ.

Syrah/Petite Sirah blend with a dash of Malvasia Bianca. Formerly from Buhl Memorial Vineyard in the Kansas Settlement of Cochise County, AZ. and now from our Eliphante block in Cornville, AZ. Côte Rôtie-style blend substituting Malvasia Bianca for Viognier. The Syrah takes the back seat, serving as the muscular structure to present the Apricot, Peach and Orange peel characters of the AZ Malvasia Bianca. We Co-Ferment these grapes when logistics allow. 3350 ft. elevation.

In early 2012, just outside of Cornville, AZ, we planted 30 acres on what we refer to as the Eliphante Block. Here we have mostly Italian clones, with a few Spanish and French as well.
